Michael Rubinoff


A Toronto based theatre producer who conceived the story depicted in Come From Away as a musical. In 2011 he established the Canadian Music Theatre Project (CMTP), an international incubator for the development of new musicals, where he produced and developed the first workshops of Come From Away, The Theory of Relativity and 28 other new works. He serves as a producer and the creative consultant for productions of Come From Away on Broadway (Tony Nomination, Best Musical), in London’s West End (Olivier Award for Best New Musical), in Toronto (Dora Award for Best New Musical) and Australia and across North America on tour. In 2018, on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen and all Canadians, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Cross by the Governor General of Canada for his role in creating Come From Away. He is a former board member and president of the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts, 2015 Member of the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference, and an inaugural member of the Minister of Heritage’s Advisory Group on Canadian Cultural Initiatives in China. Upcoming projects include the world premiere of the new musical Grow in Spring 2022 at the Grand Theatre in London, Ontario.

He is a proud graduate of Western University Law School and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2002. He is a 2004 graduate of the Commercial Theatre Institute’s 14 Week Program. @mrubinoff
