CREATIVE TEAM - BIOGRAPHIES


Allison Bibicoff (Director/Choreographer) is a director/choreographer who has received an LA Drama Critic’s Circle nomination, two L.A. Weekly Award nominations, a Garland award a Garland nomination and an L.A. Critic’s Choice selection. Allison was the assistant choreographer for Xanadu (Broadway), which received four Tony nominations, including Best New Musical and Best Choreography.  Allison worked with Tony winner Kathleen Marshall on Applause at City Center Encores! starring Christine Ebersole, and Mark Brokaw on Parfumerie at The Wallis, starring Richard Schiff. Other director/choreographer work includes Spelling Bee, Smokey Joe’s Café, Joseph…, China: The Whole Enchilada (West Coast Premiere), and the World Premieres of Wandering Willows and Pellets, Cherries & Lies: The Pac Man Story. Other choreography credits include Xanadu, Company, Twelfth Night and the World Premieres of Savin’ Up for Saturday Night, Tales of Tinseltown, iGhost, Love’s Labour’s LOST: The Musical!, and Shadow Anthropology. In 2015, she directed readings of two of the three projects selected for the annual ASCAP/Dreamworks new musical theatre workshop, moderated by Steven Schwartz, as well as a reading of the winner of NMI’s international Search for New Musicals. Jerry A Blackburn (Stage Manager) is a production stage manager at his second fringe show and his second show at NMI.   Previously Jerry has worked with Carol Channing, Kathy Najimi, Mo Gaffney, Eden Espinosa, Toni Morrell, Alejandro Patino, Mia Xitlali , Andrew Allen, Will Shupe, Conchita Belisle Newman, Philip McBride, Kay Sedia Amir Levi and Andrew Joseph Perez.  Jerry received his Master’s of orchestral conducting from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in 1987 and has been working in film and theater since 1975.  Jerry would like to thank his stage manger mentor Vernon Willet for his friendship and guidance over the years.

Lauryn Michelle Downey (Alessandra) has worked with Plan B Entertainment, Sacramento Theatre Company, McCleod Summer Playhouse, Oklahoma City Repertory Theater, and El Dorado Musical Theatre. She grew up in Sacramento and then traveled to Oklahoma City University where she graduated with a BM in musical theater. She has studied with Lesly Kahn & Co, Mike Pointer, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and Florence Birdwell. Some of her favorite roles include Milly in Seven Brides, Reno in Anything Goes, Irene in Hello Dolly, Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods and Elsa in Sound of Music. She has also been featured in several short films, web series, and commercials here in LA. She loves coffee shops, chocolate, and singing anything jazzy and sultry.

Jaq Galliano (Mookie) is happy to join the Fringe Festival this year! He was most recently seen as Phelps in Reunion of the Bells at the Stella Adler Theatre, and has been seen on stages across the West Coast as Slim in Bubble-Boy the Musical, Mitch Mahoney / Dan Dad / Olive’s Dad in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Akhmed in The Sleeper, Trekky Monster in Avenue Q, Berger in Hair, Cain in Children of Eden, Starkey in Peter Pan, Lesgles in Les Miserables, and Caldwell B. Cladwell in Urinetown: The Musical. When he is not on stage, Jaq is hard at work in the music industry protecting artists’ rights and creating music. He has also been featured in student films, SAG short films, TV episodes (including Bad Girls and Hawaii 5-0) and films (including Battleship and The Under Shepherd). Jaq also spent time performing with both Portland Opera and Hawaii Opera Theatre in productions including Carmen, The Flying Dutchman, Aida and Abduction from the Seraglio. Luke Klipp (Jack) is excited to return to the stage with 1001 MINUTES OF NEW MUSICALS. He has participated in numerous projects at NMI, including the Stages Festival, 15 Minute Musicals, and last year’s staged reading of INVISIBLE (Reeves). Outside of performing, Luke is a co-founder and producer of A LITTLE NEW MUSIC, LA’s premier concert series for new and unheard musical theatre works for an audience seeking fun, polished entertainment (and which returns for its fifteenth show on August 21 at the Catalina Jazz Club). Working at a full-time day job for Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia, Luke can also talk your ear off about transportation policy and different things to do in Long Beach. He’s a proud graduate of the University of Michigan, where he spent two years in the musical theatre program. He wants to thank his husband, Bryant, and their two dogs, Godric and Uli, for all their love and support!

Kerr Seth Lordygan (Marcus) is an actor/director/writer who rarely takes a break. Aside from having been on boards and management teams of local theatres around L.A., Kerr continues to act on whatever stages will have him. Some randomly picked theatre credits include:  Gross Indecency (as Mr. Wilde) and Measure for Measure at the old Eclectic Company Theatre,  D Deb Debbie Deborah at Theatre of NOTE, Orphans and Something Wicked This Way Comes (world premiere) with the USC alumni team at the Edinburgh Fringe, and The Importance of Being Earnest and Tainted Blood at The Road. He wrote Askance and Kerr Package (a collection of his one-acts), and co-wrote the hard rock musical Gothmas and the terrorism comedy Martyrdumb, all having enjoyed successful local runs.  He wrote for and stars in the upcoming web series Iron Nest of the Moon, and has starred in films Go West, Convict, and Die Like an Aviator. He has been a hard rock/metal singer most of his life, most recently having sung in the Iron Maiden tribute band, Aces High. He now uses his big mouth to compose and record hard rock songs himself sans musical instruments.

Chelsea Pope (Bekka) is an actor, writer, and standup comedian. She enjoys writing and performing with her all-female indie sketch team Small Dinosaurs, as well as her indie improv teams Bean and Hyenas. She recently finished a run of Proof Doubt Closer’s production of Carrie That Tune! Hit Songs From Flop Musicals where she channeled her telekinetic powers as Carrie. Some of her favorite past roles include Philia in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Mayor Maggie in Bay Boy! The Musical, and Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She graduated with honors from UCLA with BA in English Literature, and recently finished cowriting her first pilot script. Bryon Richards (Book) is a novelist at heart and was slightly nudged into the musical theater scene by a certain piano player and has embraced it with open arms, with two 15-minute musicals under his belt, Frankie’s Laundry and The Smartest Zombie at Harvard. Besides writing for the theater and working on his upcoming novel, he also writes for television and does a journalism piece or two. Jan Roper (Music Director) brings more than 30 years of experience in Los Angeles as a keyboard player, singer, songwriter, and composer. Her latest musical, City of Light, is one of 2 featured musicals being produced this July with the SheNYC New Works Festival at the Connelly Theater in New York City. City of Light was also selected for the 2015 ASCAP/Dreamworks Workshop. She has music directed numerous shows, including her own original rock opera, Jerusalem A.D. In 2010 the L.A. Weekly Theater Awards nominated her for Best Musical Director for her work in Godspell. Jan’s second CD, “The Sweetest Refrain” is available on iTunes and her 3rd CD will be released later this summer. She is Music Director at Church for the Nations in Glendale, Music Director at Golden Performing Arts Center, and also teaches part-time at Coast Conservatory of Music in Hermosa Beach.

Graydon Schlichter (Jimmy the Butter Knife) is thrilled to join NMI and its band of miscreants, ne’er do wells, dames, and Girls Friday for the 2017 Hollywood Fringe Festival. Fringe is his favorite time of year, and this marks his 5th Fringe production! Crime is his theme this summer, as Graydon is also currently playing Michael “Moose” Mulligan in the audience-driven Three Can Keep a Secret running at Studio/Stage. Many thanks to Allison & Jan along with everyone else on and off stage who made this possible.

Clifford J. Tasner (Music and Lyrics) used to orchestrate big Hollywood films (Argo, Life of Pi, Harry Potter, The Hobbit) and now just composes smaller ones.  His score for Verbatim: The Ferguson Case was heard at the Sundance Film Festival in 2016. For the past 18 years, Tasner has been writing and producing the songs for the political satire street theater collective, The Billionaires.  He’s hard at work finishing their latest album, Favorable Business Climate. He’s currently creating the songs for the campaign for Single-Payer Healthcare in California.  His great love is Musical Theater.  He has been a participant in ANMT/NMI since 2009.  You can hear more of Tasner’s work at CliffordJTasner.com
