Chana Wise is a playwright and lyricist living in Southern California. In collaboration with composer Carl Johnson, she has written both book and lyrics for Mary Marie, a musical about the effects of divorce on a 13-year-old girl and her parents in 1920 New England, (2015 Richard Rodgers Award finalist) (NAMT, 2014); Tinseltown Christmas, the story of what happens when the ghosts of four famous Hollywood movie legends pop out of their Christmas Movies to help out a couple of lonely hearts Christmas Eve, (University of California, Irvine, December, 2012);  and The Coffee Quintet - a short musical film concerning a coffeehouse and a case of mistaken identities. Chana has also written lyrics for Earthbound, (book by Adam Hahn, music by Jonathan Price) and The Island, (book and music by Jonathan Price), both produced by SkyPilot Theatre and premiering at T.U. Studios in Hollywood, June 2012 and July 2013, respectively, and lyrics for The Max Factor Factor, (music - Joe Blodgett, book - Adrian Bewley) which was produced by NMI at NoHo Arts Center in North Hollywood, August, 2014.

Chana (with Carl Johnson) is currently working on a staged reading of Bagels! the musical, which was showcased by NMI’s 4 x 10 Ensemble, and is the (almost) actual, (partly) factual, story of the invention of the first automated Bagel machine.
