Gabrielle Wagner, bookwriter for City of Light

The trajectory of my life changed paths when I embarked on my writing journey with NMI.  It was no coincidence that I saw a show that made me want to write (better than the show I saw;) and called Patricia Zehentmayr who informed me that the new CORE session had JUST started.  She urged me to call Elise.  I did.  And it happened to be kismet that a book writer had JUST dropped out and they were one short.  And the rest is history.  I’m thoroughly enjoying this new addition to my hyphenate.

Gabrielle comes from a professional background of acting and singing.  She went through the Academy for New Musical Theatre’s Core Curriculum program, where she co-wrote the one act musical, “iWish” which was produced (and published) by ANMT at the Colony Theatre in June 2012, as well as at UC Irvine in March 2013 and in Hollywood for a 6 week run in August 2014.  She is currently working as bookwriter on 3 other projects, although City of Light has her heart.  As an actress, Gabi starred in the acclaimed “Divorce! The Musical” for which she was nominated for an Ovation Award 2010.  She was most recently seen on AMC’s Mad Men, FX’s Wilfred, film Stonerville (with the late Leslie Nielsen) and in several world premier’s of new musicals.  She received a Garland nom for Best Lead in a Musical as Polly Peachum in “The Threepenny Opera,” and also sings with and co-owns the Christmas Matters Holiday Carolers.  www.gabriellewagner.com

I’m very excited about a show that I’m writing with David Orris, composer, set in Ireland about the lives of 2 women, one human, one faerie, and what happens when their worlds literally collide.   Also in talks with Mark Folan who composed and wrote lyrics for the Knight in the Museum musical that showed on Thursday evening at ASCAP/DW.
