To see your Rental Account online, go to www.nmi.org; click the login menu button (upper right); and login with this information:
Your password will be the one you created when you set up your NMI account OR (if your account was set up by NMI Staff) it will be "nmi".
(Note: you can personalize your password by updating your Personal Info on your NMI Account Home Page.)
When you get to your NMI Account Home Page, you should see a black button that says RENTAL ACCOUNT. Click that and it will take you to a page that has your upcoming schedule – followed by a list of dates that haven’t yet been paid for (past and present); followed by a complete past history including which checks were applied to which rentals.

RENTAL POLICY MEMO
NOTE: :Please do not give out the NMI phone number to your own staff or contacts. We cannot field questions about your audition or rehearsal.
Scheduled Rehearsal Time
Please adhere to the start and end times that you have requested in your booking. If you need extra time to set-up or to clean-up, you should include that time in your booking request. (i.e.: if you are scheduled until 2:00 pm, then you need to be OUT of the rehearsal room by 2:00pm).

Rentals are payable in advance by PayPal (go to www.PayPal.com; click SEND MONEY; and send the payment to firstname.lastname@example.org), by mail, or on the day of your rental by check. If a check is returned for insufficient funds, you will be charged for any bank fees. Checks should be made out to NEW MUSICALS INC. and mailed to: NMI, 5628 Vineland Avenue, North Hollywood, CA 91601
There is no need to return chairs, tables, or music stands to any specific place at the end of your rehearsal, or to return the space to the state it was in when you arrived. However, please DO remove all of your own clutter (pens and pencils, water bottles, food, papers, etc.).
The Main Hall is our largest rehearsal space, located at the rear of the building. The room is 39 feet long and 24 feet wide, and has a painted concrete floor and roller-door access to the back alley. The room also contains a raised platform at the far end that is 20 feet wide, 8 feet deep, and 18 inches high. The room can comfortably seat 75-80. (We have 100 chairs).
The Front Studio is our medium-sized rehearsal hall, and is located at the front of the building. The room is 12 feet by 16 feet, and carpeted. The room can seat up to 20, but is better suited for smaller groups.
NMI has two small restrooms, located back-to-back between the Common Area and the Kitchen. (These restrooms are NOT wheel-chair accessible).
NMI has a small open Kitchen facility with a sink and fridge. We have a K-Cup coffee maker (K-cups are for sale with the snacks); the snack area is usually stocked with munchies; and the fridge is usually stocked with water and soft drinks. These items are available for a small fee on the honor system. You are perfectly welcome to bring your own food items, and you may use the fridge (space permitting), but you will want to label your own items.
The centrally located Common Area (Lobby) can be used as a reception or lobby area, and is particularly useful as a holding area for actors during auditions. If you have a group that is going to be making noise in this area during your rental, please let us know so that we can make sure there are no conflicts with other rehearsals.
Street parking directly outside NMI has a two-hour limit from 9-6 on weekdays (and you WILL be ticketed). Street parking on the side streets is free.
Chairs: NMI has 100 stackable banquet chairs. Usually, there are about 60 in the Main Hall, 20 in the Common Area, and the others in the Front Studio. There is no need to return the chairs to any specific place after your rehearsal, but bear in mind that you may need to fetch chairs from various places at the beginning of each session depending on your needs.
Tables: NMI has about half a dozen folding tables (between 4′ and 6′) that are generally stored in the large cabinet opposite the sink in the kitchen (check the labels on the cabinets).
Music Stands: NMI has 20 music stands.
Pianos: Each rehearsal space has an upright piano.
IF YOU HAVE NEED OF A SPECIFIC NUMBER OF CHAIRS, TABLES, OR MUSIC STANDS FOR YOUR REHEARSAL, PLEASE LET US KNOW SO WE CAN MAKE SURE THERE IS NO CONFLICT WITH THE NEEDS OF ANOTHER REHEARSAL.
Floors: Please don’t use any kind of tape on the floor without asking us. Our floor paint is very particular and will rip away with masking tape, duct tape, and even some kinds of painters’ tape. We’ve found one kind of tape which we’ll allow, so please ask us about it before putting down any tape. Thanks.
The bathrooms are usually kept stocked with toilet paper and paper towels. If you need refills - check the cupboard in the front bathroom, or the rack next to the toilet in the back bathroom. To open the towel holder for restocking, use the key located in the cupboard or medicine cabinet. Coffee cups, plates, napkins, plasticware, etc. are all available in the shelving unit opposite the refrigerator. Help yourself (within reason).
There are two thermostats to control our heating and cooling - one in the Common Area, and one in the Main Hall. To activate the heating or cooling, press the OverRide button on the outside of the thermostat (lower right-hand side). Each press of the button will get you a half hour of heating or cooling - for up to 4 hours at a time.
As you can imagine, our garbage cans fill up pretty quickly. If you want to be nice and get rid of some of the garbage, fresh bags are in the shelving unit opposite the refrigerator. The dumpster is located in the alley outside the back door of the Main Hall.
There are three recycling bins in the kitchen area: Plastic (water bottles); Cans (from soft drinks); and Paper (clean and dry only please!). If the bins are full, please feel free to empty them and recycle them on your own, or place them out back by our dumpster for pick-up by our friendly locals.
If you blow a fuse, there is one breaker box on the wall in the kitchen area (next to the really big cupboards), and one breaker box at the back of the Main Hall (behind the black curtain). Note: We do have separate circuits if you are going to be plugging in heavy-duty equipment, but please see a staff member to find out which plugs to use.
Perfect, the sandwich shop across the street (in the strip mall on the NW corner of Burbank and Vineland), has nice fresh sandwiches and fairly good coffee. We also refer to this as the Carpuccino Store (check out their neon sign and you will see why.)
Robina’s is an Indian restaurant, located just east of Vineland on the north side of Burbank Blvd.
Hyatt’s Kitchen is an excellent (small) middle Eastern restaurant and is located tucked away in the far corner of the strip mall on the NW corner of Burbank and Vineland.
There are several Mexican restaurants and an Asian noodle restaurant on the adjacent corners, and a 7-11 and McDonald’s just west of here on Burbank Blvd.
Circus Liquor (you DID see the big clown, didn’t you?) is what you would expect.
Anawalt Lumber: SW corner of Burbank & Vineland.
NoHo Copy: 4795 Vineland, just north of the 134 Freeway.
US Post Office: Chandler west of Lankershim.
NOT Available to Renters
The following are for the use of NMI Staff only and are NOT available to renters:
- the photocopier and supplies in the Small Studio
- NMI’s CD players and audio visual equipment
- the three parking spaces behind the building (off the alley)
- the office labeled ‘Staff Only’
