Producing Artistic Director, Canadian Music Theatre Project
A Toronto based theatre producer who conceived the story depicted in Come From Away as a musical. In 2011 he established the Canadian Music Theatre Project (CMTP), an international incubator for the development of new musicals at Sheridan College, where he produced and developed the first workshops of Come From Away. He serves as a producer and the creative consultant for productions of the hit musical on Broadway (Tony Nomination, Best Musical), in London’s West End (Olivier Award for Best New Musical), Toronto, Melbourne and across North America on tour. He is the Producing Artistic Director of the CMTP and is currently developing new musicals in Canada and China. He also severed as the Producer for Theatre Sheridan, producing a six show season. In 2018, on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen and all Canadians, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Cross by the Governor General of Canada for his role in creating Come From Away. He is a former board member and president of the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts, 2015 Member of the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference, and a member of the Minister of Heritage’s Advisory Group on Canadian Cultural Initiatives in China. He is the recipient of Colleges and Institutes Canada Leadership Excellence Award for Managerial Staff and the 2017 Canadian Club (Toronto) Canadian of the Year.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science and a Bachelor of Laws from Western University and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2002. Prior to joining Sheridan College in 2011 as Associate Dean of Visual and Performing Arts, he practiced entertainment law and commercial real estate law in Toronto.
