Seaview Co-founder Jana Shea’s passion is working to transform the world into a place where all people have the same rights, standards of living and opportunities as men. She carries that passion with her into the world of theatre and film, where she champions works that raise traditionally ignored voices and is especially interested in projects that elevate women.
Her Broadway credits include Tony Award winner for Best Musical, A Gentlemen’s Guide to Love and Murder, as well as Escape to Margaritaville, Side Show, and Hughie. On London’s West End, she produced Show Boat, and the revival of Gypsy starring Imelda Staunton, for which she won the Olivier Award for Best Musical. Off-Broadway productions include the record-breaking Sweeney Todd at the Barrow Street Theatre, winner of the Lortel Award for Outstanding Revival, Hundred Days, The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey, Invisible Thread, and Slave Play which finished a run on Broadway in 2020. Upcoming Broadway productions include Lempicka, the new musical directed by Tony nominee Rachel Chavkin, with book and lyrics by Carson Kreitzer and music by Matt Gould, and Moulin Rouge! The Musical.
She is a producer on the upcoming feature film The Coldest Winter Ever. Additionally, she has production credits on the documentary She Started It, about young women tech entrepreneurs. Other Seaview films include the Peabody Award-winning documentary India’s Daughter and Gypsy: Live from the Savoy Theatre in collaboration with the BBC.
Seaview Production’s extensive portfolio of global entertainment investments includes: The Band’s Visit, Dear Evan Hansen, On Your Feet!, The SpongeBob Musical, Fun Home, Something Rotten, It’s Only a Play, Of Mice and Men, and Human’s Best Friend, an immersive pop-up experience.
Jana is Vice-President of Legacy Theatre in Branford, Connecticut, supporting the non-profit theater’s efforts to restore a historic 1903 silent movie theater into a premier professional repertory venue and arts conservatory on the Connecticut shoreline. She currently serves on the Board of Women Moving Millions and has served on the Advisory Board of Community Fund for Women and Girls in Greater New Haven as Development Co-chair. She was Board Co-Chair of Looking Forward, a nonprofit that raises money to provide services for cancer patients and is a partner in Mentor Management, a group dedicated to advising and investing in start-ups on the Connecticut shoreline. Her early career was spent in marketing and strategic planning for SNET after completing her BA in Biology at SUNY Buffalo and MBA at the University of New Haven.
Jana co-owns two other businesses in the entertainment space. The first, Borderlight Entertainment, is a talent management company that serves Broadway artists by touring them for concerts and producing their solo albums. The other is a new performing artists’ streaming service currently in development. She is also co-owner of Aware Recovery Care, an in-home addiction rehabilitation program that boasts a 60% success rate for clients after one year.
