The Loft Ensemble is excited to announce the world premiere of the new musical Wanting Miss Julie. The show (a loose adaptation of August Strindberg’s famous Miss Julie) is a dark drama about temptation, isolation, and the consequences of giving in to the forbidden.
The musical’s book is written by John Sparks, with lyrics by Patricia Zehentmayr, and music by Jake Anthony. It will be directed by Loft Ensemble member Kevin Meoak, with music direction by Jake Anthony, and choreography by April Sheets. Cast members include Michael Armstrong Barr, Sarah Claspell, Alexis DeDonato, Corinne DeVries, Matthew Emerick, Katie Kitani, Lindsey Newell, Joshua Olkowski, Bart Tangredi, and Allison Williams.
Loft Ensemble has been producing work in downtown Los Angeles in the Arts District since 2007, and is quickly earning a reputation for daring creativity. They were recognized with their first Ovation Awards in 2015 and have a powerful season lined up for 2016. It has long been an ambition of theirs to produce a world premiere musical for their stage.
Note: The entrance to the Loft Ensemble is actually located on Vignes between 1st and 2nd St. The best street parking is often found just east of 1st street off Vignes (near OSSO).
