The Star Trek: Discovery star returns to the New York stage in Bryna Turner’s new comedy at Lincoln Center/LCT3.
The world premiere of Bryna Turner’s At the Wedding officially opens March 21 at Lincoln Center Theater/LCT3’s Claire Tow Theater Off-Broadway, for a run through April 17. Preview performances for the new comedy began March 5.
Mary Wiseman (Thérèse Raquin, Star Trek: Discovery) leads the cast as Carlo, a heartbroken lesbian who attends her ex-girlfriend’s hetero wedding.
The cast also includes Jorge Donoso, Rebecca S’manga Frank, Keren Lugo, Carolyn McCormick, Will Rogers, and Han Van Sciver.
Jenna Worsham directs the production, with scenic design by Maruti Evans, costumes by Oana Botez, lighting by Oona Curley, and sound by Fan Zhang. Katie Kennedy is the stage manager.

This afternoon, Broadway veteran Joel Hatch has played his final show with the company of the hit musical, Come From Away. A member of the original cast, Joel Hatch has been with the show since it opened on Broadway just over five years ago on March 12th, 2017. He portrayed ‘Claude others’other characters throughout the production.Gene Weygandtwill begin performances in the roles on Tuesday, March 22. Gene joins the company directly from the Australia cast of Come From Away.

Grace examines the history of Black culinary tradition and the challenges faced by Black-owned businesses as it follows a day in the life of the Minton family, who gathers to mourn the loss of their matriarch and decide the future of the family restaurant in a changing Philadelphia neighborhood.
The cast features David Hughey, Arica Jackson, Raquel Jennings, Rayshun LaMarr, Jarran Muse, Solomon Parker III, Nova Y. Payton, and Virginia Ann Woodruff. Understudies are LaDonna Burns, Jay Frisby, Duawne Starling, and Kai B. White.
Grace is directed and choreographed by Robert Barry Fleming, with music direction by Williams and orchestrations by Joseph Joubert. The production also has scenic design by Jason Ardizzone-West, costume design by Dominique Fawn Hill, lighting design by Xavier Pierce, sound design by David Budries, and hair and wig design by Nikiya Mathis. Sheldon Epps serves as creative consultant and Martine Kei Green-Rogers as dramaturg. New York casting is by Stephanie Klapper. The production stage manager is Craig A. Horness, the stage manager is Jessica R. Aguilar, and the assistant stage manager is Taryn Friend.
The production runs through May 14 at Ford’s, by special arrangement with Dale Mott/Edgewood (Thoughts of a Colored Man, A Strange Loop) and NEWorks Productions.

Here’s our prize! The Broadway Records cast album from Classic Stage Company’s recent star-studded Off-Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman‘s Assassinsis available digitally beginning March 18, with a physical CD release planned for April 15.
The production, which ran this winter season, was directed by CSC Artistic Director John Doyle and featured music direction and orchestrations by Greg Jarrett and sound design by Matt Stine and Sam Kusnetz.
The album is produced by two-time Grammy nominee Matt Stine; co-produced by Van Dean; executive-produced by Toni Marie Davis, Tyler Ellman, Jon Zietz, Matt Connolly, Jonathan Demar, and Seriff Productions; and associate-produced by Bartos Theatrical Group LLC. The cast recording is recorded and mixed by Isaiah Abolin.
Assassins has a score by Sondheim and a book by Weidman, from an idea by Charles Gilbert, Jr. The album is the third English-language recording of the musical, following releases for the original 1990 Off-Broadway and 2004 Broadway productions.

The special concert will support the Talking Heads frontman’s nonprofit Arbutus.
David Byrne’s American Utopia is staging a one-night-only benefit performance March 30. The special concert, American Utopia Farewell!, will support the former Talking Heads frontman’s nonprofit Arbutus.
Ticketholders will receive orchestra seating for the show, an exclusive 20-30 minute post-performance conversation with Byrne and guests, and a gift bag. VIP ticketholders will additionally receive signed copies of Byrne’s book, A History of the World (in Dingbats), and a vinyl LP of the David Byrne’s American Utopia original cast recording.
“I created American Utopia with the seeds of curiosity and imagination, and those same seeds are why I founded Arbutus,” shares Byrne. “The proceeds from the event on March 30th will allow Arbutus to continue our work at Reasons to Be Cheerfuland our world premiere of Theater of the Mind, hopefully making the world a little lighter and a little brighter.”
American Utopia features Byrne with band members Jacquelene Acevedo, Gustavo Di Dalva, Daniel Freedman, Chris Giarmo, Tim Keiper, Tendayi Kuumba, Karl Mansfield, Abe Nouri, Mauro Refosco, Stéphane San Juan, and Angie Swan. The company standbys are Renée Albulario, Alena Ciera, Chris Eddleton, Evan Frierson, and Natalie Tenenbaum.
The Tony Award-honored musical was slated to close in March, but recently announced a “final extension” through April 3. It is currently playing at the St. James Theatre. The concert-style musical features hit songs from Byrne’s time performing with the Talking Heads, as well as his solo career.
Tickets for the benefit can be purchased through Eventbrite. The nonprofit is also partnering with Propeller to give fans the opportunity to win a pair of premium tickets for a minimum donation of $5.
