The final production in Clubbed Thumb‘s 25th Annual Summerworks line-up, Bodies They Ritual by Angela Hanks opened June 23. The show closes out the festival, running since May 20 at The Wild Project, with performances finishing July 2. See photos from the production below.
Starring in the production’s cast are Emmy Award winner Denise Burse (Black Mirror), Nora Cole (On the Town), Jacqueline Guillen (Man Cave), Kai Heath (On Sugarland), Ebony Marshall-Oliver (Chicken & Biscuits), Emily Cass McDonnell (The Antipodes), Keilly McQuail (Lunch Bunch), Lizan Mitchell (On Sugarland), Bianca Norwood (Seven Deadly Sins), and Nandita Shenoy (Daredevil).
Bodies They Ritual follows a group of Texan ladies who journey to a sweat lodge in Santa Fe for a birthday trip. While there, the women try to connect with a deeper sense of spirituality, as other things bubbles to the surface.
Knud Adams direct the production, which features set design by Jian Jung, costume design by Enver Charkartash, lighting design by Stacey Derosier, and sound design by Kathy Ruvuna. Raynes serves as production stage manager.
The play was originally slated to premiere at the 2020 festival, which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rouleau shared a video on Instagram of the Broadway veterans’ nuptials.
Broadway alums Nic Rouleau and Corey Hummerston married at Burkestone Estate in Hudson, New York June 19, and shared a video of their wedding day on their Instagram profiles June 20.
The two actors, both veterans of The Book of Mormon on Broadway, were married by their castmate and Olivier Award winner Stephen Ashfield. Ashfield received a shout out in both captions, with Hummerston stating Ashfield “was too brilliant for words as our officiant.”
Hummerston and Rouleau both performed in The Book of Mormonnational tour, as well as Hello, Dolly!‘s national tour. In addition to The Book of Mormon, Hummerston has also been seen on Broadway in Hello, Dolly!.

Paying tribute to Broadway veteran Harvey Evans, Dancers Over 40 presents A Toast to Harvey - Celebrating the Life and Career of Harvey Evans at the Triad Theater June 22 at 6 PM.
Evans starred on Broadway in four Sondheim shows, including in West Side Story, Gypsy, Follies, and Anyone Can Whistle. Additionally, he also appeared in the 1961 film adaptation of West Side Story as Mouthpiece.
First cast as a dancer in the national touring company of Damn Yankees, he met Bob Fosse while on tour. Fosse then hired Evans for several shows including New Girl in Town and Redhead, on top of the film adaptation of The Pajama Game. Further theatre credits include Hello, Dolly!, Barnum, Sunset Boulevard, The Scarlet Pimpernel, and the 2002 revival of Oklahoma!, among others.
Dancers Over 40 is an all-volunteer, membership-driven non-profit arts organization dedicated to preserving the history, legacy and lives of our mature creative community, and sharing that knowledge with the younger generation. Evans served on its Board of Directors, and served as moderator and host for many of its events.

Hamilton will officialy open in Hamburg, Germany on October 4th. The full cast has been announced for the musical, which will be led by Benet Monteiro in the title role. Last week, the full company met the press and performed selections from the show.

Stars Killian Donnelly and Lucy St. Louis will continue as The Phantom and Christine.
New casting has been announced for the West End production of The Phantom of the Opera. Beginning August 1, Matt Blaker and Kelly Glyptis will join the company as Raoul and Carlotta, respectively.
Killian Donnelly will continue as The Phantom alongside Lucy St. Louis as Christine Daaé. Also continuing in the cast are Matt Harrop as Monsieur Firmin, Adam Linstead as Monsieur André, Greg Castiglioni as Ubaldo Piangi, Francesca Ellis as Madame Giry and Ellie Young as Meg Giry. At certain performances the role of Christine Daaé will be played by Holly-Anne Hull.
