Soara-Joye Ross also joins as a Fate in the Tony Award-winning musical.
Hadestown original cast member Jewelle Blackman steps into the role of Persephone April 5 at the Walter Kerr Theatre, succeeding Lana Gordon who played her final performance as Queen of the Underworld April 3.
Blackman has been part of the Tony Award-winning show since 2017 and originally played one of the Fates. She served as a Persephone understudy before stepping into the leading role full time. Other theatre credits include The Lion King, We Will Rock You, Caroline, or Change, and Dreamgirls.

Soara-Joye Ross also joins the cast, succeeding Blackman as a Fate and performing alongside Jessie Shelton and Kay Trinidad.
The musical features a book and lyrics by singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and currently stars Grammy winner Reeve Carney, Tony winner André De Shields, and Tony nominees Eva Noblezada and Patrick Page.
Rounding out the cast is Emily Afton, Malcolm Armwood, Timothy Hughes, Trent Saunders, Grace Yoo. Swings include Sojourner Brown, Tara Jackson, Tomás Matos, Sayo Oni, Yael Reich, and T. Oliver Reid.
