The one-night-only event celebrates the late Broadway performer who passed away in 2021.

The Triad Theater has announced its upcoming show A Toast to Harvey - Celebrating the Life and Career of Harvey Evans at 6 PM June 22. The evening will feature Dancers Over 40 in a tribute to the Broadway veteran, and will be hosted by Lee Roy Reams

Making appearances and performing at the event will be Jim Brochu, Anita Gillette, Kurt Peterson, Marianne Tatum, and Penny Worth. Lawrence Leritz will direct the evening.  

Evans starred on Broadway in four Sondheim shows, including in West Side StoryGypsyFollies, and Anyone Can Whistle. Additionally, he also appeared in both film adaptations of West Side Story, first as Mouthpiece in 1961 and as a security guard in 2021.  

Evans was first cast as a dancer in the national touring company of Damn Yankees, during which he met Bob Fosse, who then hired him for a number of shows including New Girl in Town and Redhead, on top of the film adaptation of The Pajama Game. Further theatre credits include Hello, Dolly!BarnumSunset BoulevardThe Scarlet Pimpernel, and the 2002 revival of Oklahoma!, among others.

Dancers Over 40 is an all-volunteer, membership-driven non-profit arts organization dedicated to preserving the History, Legacy and Lives of our mature creative community, and sharing that knowledge with the younger generation. Evas served on its Board of Directors, and served as moderator and host for many of its events.
