Do NOT come to NMI’s Holiday Party! (Here’s why….)
One of the biggest thanks we get all year is, “Thank you SO much for NOT having a holiday party, NMI! Would you please please NOT have another party this year, so I can just donate but not have to go to a party? Please?”
We hear you. The last thing you want to do this busy season is spend an evening at NMI listening to Christmas-themed musical theatre, right? But you want to support NMI. (Right?) So, we’re proudly announcing “NMI’s Biggest and Bashiest Non-Event Event Gala.” The best part is…you don’t have to attend.
Here’s how it works:
- Make a donation to NMI.
- Stay away / do something else on December 14
- Thank us later.
To sweeten the pot this year, we are the grateful recipients of a $50,000 matching grant for donations received before December 15th…so for every $500 donation, we’ll receive an additional $1000. The grant matches up to $25,000 in donations…which would mean a total of $75,000.
If just 50 of you donate $500, we’ll make that $25,000. Any chance you could find in your heart and checkbook to give $500 this year?
We’ll reward you with a free night off this season. Stay away on December 14th, and you’ll avoid ALL of the following things:
No e-ppetizers; no e-ggnog; no Silent Night auctions. No Edna Ferber’s renditions of Christmas Carols; no terrible performances of “A Partridge in a Gear Box”. Best of all, tell everyone, “So sorry, I can’t make your event because I’m not attending an event at NMI that evening.”
Here’s the one catch. You have to make a reservation. You can’t just plain stay away…you have to be able to prove you’ve stayed away. Everyone stays home. No expenses for catering, decorations, drinks, or entertainment. Which means that all of the money you give will go to New Musicals Inc. Because of this, your gift is 100% tax-deductible. You have a few different options for what you can NOT do on December 14 - depending on how much you’re willing to spend to avoid the stuff we’re offering.
For $100, you can simply NOT ATTEND the event. No e-ppetiters. No e-ggnog. No “Silent Night Auction.”
For a mere $200, you will be sent a link that you can studiously avoid - lest you be forced to listen to the inimitable Edna Fervor (aka Elise Dewsberry) singing Christmas Carols - including all the verses that you’re going to wish you could un-hear.
And $500 is nothing at all to ensure that you receive a link to not avoid not only Edna Fervor’s Christmas Carols, but also an excruciatingly never-ending loop of the Last Folksinger singing his inexplicable version of “A Partridge in a Gear Box”.
