The Tony-winning musical marked the only Broadway company to be nominated in the Outstanding Musical Performance in a Daytime Program category. The win was shared by The Today Show and Tony winners Ben Platt and Rachel Bay Jones, Mike Faist, Laura Dreyfuss, Kristolyn Lloyd, Michael Park, Jennifer Laura Thompson, and Will Roland.

This marked the second consecutive year the award went to a performance by the company of a Broadway musical on the NBC morning show; last year, the award went to the Cynthia Erivo-led performance from the cast of The Color Purple.

Platt and his co-stars also picked up Grammy Awards earlier this year for their work on the Original Broadway Cast Recording.

Also among the 2018 Creative Arts winners were In the Heights Tony winner Bill Sherman, for his Original Song “A Song About Songs” for Sesame Street (shared with lyricist Molly Boylan), as well as BroadwayHD’s presentation of Disney’s Broadway Hits at Royal Albert Hall for director Jay Hatcher and the sound mixing team of Dan Scott and Matt Kraus.

The 45th annual Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony will take place April 29. For the full list of nominees and announced Creative Arts winners, visit EmmyOnline.tv.

Platt took his final bow in the Benj Pasek, Justin Paul, and Steven Levenson musical November 19; Taylor Trensch currently takes on the title role at the Music Box Theatre.
