Canceled Production of BE MORE CHILL Revived at Turlock High School
A previously canceled production of Joe Iconis’ teen sci-fi musical, Be More Chill, has been reinstated at Turlock High School in California.
Sarah Silverman Musical The Bedwetter Begins World Premiere Run Off-Broadway April 30
The Atlantic Theater Company production stars Zoe Glick, Caissie Levy, Bebe Neuwirth, Ashley Blanchett, and more.
Atlantic Theater Company’s world premiere musical The Bedwetter begins its run Off-Broadway April 30 at the Linda Gross Theater, with opening night set for May 23. The recently extended run will continue through June 26.
The Bedwetter is based on comedian and Emmy winner Sarah Silverman’s bestselling memoir of the same name about Sarah, a funny 10-year-old with a secret that’s not so secret if you read the title. The stage adaptation features a book by Drama Desk winner Joshua Harmon and Silverman, with lyrics by Silverman and Emmy winner Adam Schlesinger, who also composed the music.
Featured in the cast are Caissie Levy (Caroline, or Change, Frozen) as Beth Ann, Tony winner Bebe Neuwirth (Chicago) as Nana, Ashley Blanchet (Waitress) as Miss New Hampshire, Rick Crom (HBO’s Divorce) as Dr. Grimm/Dr. Riley, Zoe Glick (Frozen) as Sarah, Darren Goldstein (The Little Foxes) as Donald, and Ellyn Marie Marsh (The Rose Tattoo) as Mrs. Dembo. Making Off-Broadway debuts are Charlotte MacLeod as Abby, Charlotte Elizabeth Curtis as Ally, Margot Weintraub as Amy, and Emily Zimmerman as Laura.
The company is rounded out by understudies Elizabeth Ward Land, Lauren Marcus, George Merrick, Charlie Tassone, and Annabelle Wachtel.
Lucille Lortel winner Any Kauffman is at the helm, working alongside choreographer Byron Easley, creative consultant David Yazbek (The Band’s Visit), scenic designer Laura Jellinek, costume designer Kaye Voice, lighting designer Japhy Weideman, sound designer Kai Harada, projection designer Lucy Mackinnon, music director Henry Aronson, music supervisor and coordinator Dean Sharenow, hair and wig designer Tom Watson, and production stage manager Richard A. Hodge. Orchestrations are by David Chase, dialect coaching is by Kate Wilson, and casting is by The Telsey Office’s Rachel Hoffman.

J. Harrison Ghee, Peppermint, Orfeh, More Set for Night of 1000 Madonnas
The 30-song retrospective of the Grammy winner’s hits will be held at Sony Hall during Pride Month.
Mindfull Entertainment Inc. will present Night of 1000 Madonnas—a 30-song retrospective of the Grammy winner’s hits—June 20 at Sony Hall to benefit The Ali Forney Center.
The event, centering and celebrating queerness while honoring the legacy of LGBTQ+ activists, artists, and allies, will feature Miss Peppermint (Head Over Heels), JJ Niemann (The Book of Mormon), Orfeh (Pretty Woman), Kathryn Allison (Company), J. Harrison Ghee (Some Like It Hot), Nicole Kyoung-Mi Lambert (Six), Tomás Matos (Hadestown, Fire Island), Alex Ringler (FBI, Pageant), and Wren Rivera (Jagged Little Pill). Richard Amelius (all-female Jesus Christ Superstar) directs. Further casting will be announced.
The artists will be backed by a live band with musical direction and orchestrations by Steven Cuevas (Tina) and background vocals by Mia Gentile and Olivia Griffin.
The mainstage event will be bookended by two dance sets by performer and DJ Justin Johnston (Free Guy, Rent).
“With all of the harmful legislation surfacing in Florida, Texas, Alabama, and elsewhere, we think this year’s Pride should begin with some activism attached. It’s the very Madonna thing to do,” says Mindfull Artistic Director Richard Amelius. “This event’s proceeds will benefit The Ali Forney Center, a New York institution that aims to protect vulnerable LGBTQ+ people from the harms of homelessness and empower them with the tools they need to be independent.”
Doors will open at 6 PM with the first DJ set at 7:30 PM and the concert at 8 PM, followed by the second DJ set at 9:30 PM.

Becky Gulsvig Returns to Broadway’s Come From Away for Limited Engagement
Rachel Tucker will be stepping away from the role of Beverley to film BBC’s Hope Street season 2.
Becky Gulsvig will be filling in for Rachel Tucker as Beverley Bass in the Broadway production of Come From Away at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre April 27–June 12.
Gulsvig has played the role before, replacing original actor Jenn Colella in the Broadway production, and taking the character on the road for the national tour. Announcing her departure via Instagram, Tucker shared that she will be leaving to star in the second season of the BBC crime drama Hope Street.
In a video, the actor documented her journey to London and Ireland, holding up a wine glass to the camera. She wrote, “Taking a wee hiatus from the beautiful friends & crew @wecomefromaway to join the gorgeous cast & crew of Hope Street season 2 for a few months!”
Gulsvig, also known for starring in the national tours of Legally Blonde the Musical and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, echoed the news on her Instagram. “It’s me and @ladyemilywalton. We started our @wecomefromaway journey together almost 4 years ago. I’m back at the Schoenfeld for 2 months keeping the pilot seat warm for @racheltucker01 while she is off doing awesome things,” she wrote while sharing a fun snap.
The international hit musical Come From Away tells the true story of 7,000 stranded air passengers during the wake of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, and the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed them. The ensemble cast take on a variety of roles, from travelers to locals to airline personnel. After opening in 2017, the musical was nominated for seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

Leading the current Broadway cast is Petrina Bromley, De’lon Grant, Caesar Samayoa, James Seol, Q. Smith, Astrid Van Wieren, Emily Walton, Jim Walton, Gene Weygandt, Sharon Wheatley, and Paul Whitty.
