EXPLANATION OF REGISTRATION OPTIONS:
all registrations are per PROJECT - so a writing team can use ONE registration to sign up to pitch their musical project
FULL CONFERENCE - $225
Includes all events on Friday/Saturday/Sunday; the opportunity for your writing team to participate in practice pitches on Saturday and Sunday as well as TWO live pitch sessions with industry professionals during the week of July 19; and the access to your own web page for more info on your show that will be made accessible to a larger group of industry professsionals after the conference.
EARLY REGISTRATION - $175
Register by June 1 and receive $50 off the Full Conference package which includes all events on Friday/Saturday/Sunday; the opportunity for your writing team to participate in practice pitches on Saturday and Sunday as well as TWO live pitch sessions with industry professionals during the week of July 19; and the access to your own web page for more info on your show that will be made accessible to a larger group of industry professsionals after the conference.
EARLY REGISTRATION + DISCOUNTED PITCH BOOT CAMP - $520

You’ve written a great musical….now what? How do you get producers to give your musical a look? What do you need before you’re ready to approach producers and theatres?
This four-session Boot Camp is designed to get you up and running in about a month. (One session a week.) You can complete the Boot Camp faster if you like…but not slower. You can start any time you like, but once you do start, there’s no procrastinating. New Musicals Inc.’s Executive Director Scott Guy will put your feet to the fire as you complete and polish the following, all of which you’ll want:
One-sentence elevator pitch
One-minute pique pitch
Five-minute hook pitch
100 word synopsis
Madison Avenue paragraph pitch
song-synopsis (“record jacket”)
You’ll also get all the knowledge and materials you need to prepare:
a successful demo (how many songs? how well produced?)
website to present your musical
a targeted list of producers and theatres to approach
secondary targets: festivals, workshops, contests
a timetable of your next steps
Here’s how it will work:
Before the Boot Camp
This session is all online. A pre-taped lecture, introducing you to the syllabus, the worksheets, and a list of things to do/write before your next session.
Session One: Taking Stock
A one-on-one session with Scott (one hour via teleconference), going over your preliminary pitches and half-page synopsis. Discussion about demographic and spin. Goals and timetable for demo, website, launch of pitch campaign.
Session Two: Polishing Materials
Teleconference (half hour) with Scott, discussing your 100-word synopsis, Madison Avenue synopsis, elevator pitch. Review/reiterate your theme and demographic.
Session Three: Practice Pitch
Pitch to Scott. Tips, tricks, feedback. The query letter. Half-hour teleconference.
Session Four: Marketing Campaign
One hour teleconference with Scott, reviewing timetable and targeted producers/theatres. Realistic goals and next steps. Final practice pitch.
Regular price of $495 includes all of the teleconferences, handouts, worksheets and pre-taped lectures. Early Registrants for the BIZ OF THE BIZ Conference receive $125 off this price.
FRIDAY ONLY - $15
Attend only the Friday evening session on the basics of pitching.
CONFERENCE AUDIT - $90
Attend all events on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, but without taking part in the live pitch sessions. This option is perfect for people who want to learn about the pitching process, but don’t yet feel ready to tackle the actual live pitch. NMI will also give you access to your own website page where you can include info about your show, and upload your own 3-minute pitch if you like; and this page will be made accessible to the same list of industry professionals who receive all the live pitches.
GRANT POSSIBILITY FOR CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS
California artists have the option to apply for a “QUICK GRANT” from the Center for Cultural Innovation. They have a revolving deadline on the 15th of each month - but you must apply BEFORE your event, so the last date you could apply for the NMI Conference would be the June 15th deadline.
