get some feedback

Have you written a musical? Are you working on one? NMI has smart, professional, detailed dramaturges who will help you make sure you are on the strongest path to fulfilling the promise of your work.

From video and audio feedback packages to one-on-one dramaturgical sessions, we have what you need to take the next step forward. We even have an annual contest that results in a workshop and concert reading in Los Angeles.

do some research

Looking for places to submit your new musical, potential collaborators or performers, or other resources? We have lists of contests and producers and lots of videos full of advice in different areas of the craft.

We also a list of writers looking for projects and/or collaborators - browse the list, or add yourself to it! Also check out our online store to purchase guidelines for professionally formatting your work.

hone your craft

We offer classes and workshops for musical theatre writers, lyricists, and composers for decades. Start with our famed Core Curriculum; then join our on-going Writers’ Workshop or take our offering of online craft labs.

THE CORE CURRICULUM IS AVAILABLE VIA VIDEO CONFERENCE and therefore is offered no matter WHERE you are in the world.

experience a musical

The best way to find out if a new musical is heading in the right direction is to get it in front of an audience. NMI presents new musicals in readings, workshops, concerts, in full productions in the Los Angeles area, and on the internet!

We also present a conference on the business side of the musical theatre business, and a festival of new works - every other summer in rotation.

all the details

New Musicals Inc., hosts many programs which support new musicals in development. We develop several dozen musicals each year for producers and writers all around the country through table readings, workshops, concerts, and occasional productions. Our academic wing, the Academy for Musical Theatre, offers courses, both online and live in Los Angeles, for professional musical theatre writers.
