EQUIPMENT NEEDED:
DAW: Logic preferred, ProTools preferred, GarageBand ok. Windows-based DAWs are acceptable as well, but courses will be taught and examples shown in Logic
Notation Software: any
Microphone: any, but some sort of external microphone (USB mic, professional mic and interface) will be necessary to complete the course

About the Instructor
Angela Parrish
- Angela Parrish is a songwriter, composer, record producer, artist, and multi-instrumentalist. A joy-filled, authentic, collaborative, and compassionate creative who thrives in multiple genres, Angela lives for the excitement of being a musical Swiss Army Knife. She has sung alongside The Weeknd, Ben Folds, Paul Williams, Jimmy Kimmel, Florence + the Machine, and the famous, beloved trio of Donald Duck, Goofy, and Mickey Mouse. Millions of cinema devotees heard her buoyant vocals on “Another Day of Sun,” the song that opens the Academy Award-winning film musical La La Land.
- Angela’s 2015 debut EP, Faithful and Tall, which featured guest vocals from Sean Watkins of Nickel Creek, was nominated for a pair of Independent Music Awards. Her song “Borrowed Time” was selected as a Grand Prize Winner in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Angela is a past recipient of the Songwriters Hall of Fame and ASCAP Abe Olman Scholarship for Excellence in Songwriting and a recent New Folk Competition Finalist, following the legacy of songwriting legends and former Finalists Lyle Lovett, Lucinda Williams and Shawn Colvin.
- Angela co-wrote original songs for the 2020 film Chance starring Matthew Modine, one of which was nominated for a Hollywood Music in Media Award. She also composed music for the 2020 webseries GLOP! - The Glorious Ladies of Puppetry, a phenomenal all-female troupe of Henson Company and Sesame Street puppeteers. Angela recently had her Off-Broadway debut as a composer with additional music for Rescue Rue, which premiered at the Daryl Roth Theatre in New York at the end of 2021. She is the vocal producer for the WB series Batwheels and the Apple TV/Jim Henson Company series Slumberkins, both of which feature her songwriting in several episodes. Her songwriting can also be heard in the new Disney series Hamster and Gretel. Angela is super appreciative of the big-hearted mentors who helped her get her career off the ground, so she loves paying it forward. As a Recording Academy Voting Member, Angela advises college music students through the GRAMMY U mentorship program. She is passionate about developing key music industry relationships for students in the jazz department at the University of Northern Colorado, where she proudly earned her master’s degree. Angela is the Vice President of the Los Angeles chapter of the Children’s Media Association, and she also serves on the Alumni Association Board for her first alma mater, Wichita State University (yes, the school from Ted Lasso). She lives in Los Angeles with her husband in a house owned by their dog, Frank Zappa, who allows them to pay the mortgage.
